Am I Eligible to File a Roundup Lawsuit?
Roundup is used across the nation to kill and control weeds. However, the effectiveness of this product comes at a cost, as its main ingredient (glyphosate) has been linked to a higher risk of cancer.
Anyone who was exposed to Roundup for a long period and developed some form of cancer, especially non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, leukemia, myeloma and B-cell lymphoma, may be eligible to file a lawsuit to pursue compensation for damages.
People who worked in the agricultural industry may have been exposed to the pesticide while spraying it on weeds for extended periods over many years. Certain jobs in this industry may have put people at greater risk of exposure, such as:
- Farmers
- Groundskeepers
- City maintenance workers
- Agricultural employees
- Professional landscapers
- Residential gardeners
- Golf course greens crews
Some of these workers may have been exposed to Roundup on an almost daily basis.
However, many others who do not work in these jobs could have been exposed. Many homeowners used Roundup on their lawns or gardens for years.

Signs You May Have Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma
There are numerous signs you may be suffering from non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. If you experience these symptoms and you were exposed to Roundup, you should consult a trained physician to determine the cause:
- Fever that cannot be explained by another illness
- Pain in your chest
- Weight loss you cannot explain
- Sweating a lot at night
- Swelling of your lymph nodes in your armpits, neck or groin
- Excessive fatigue
The faster doctors catch cancer, the better the prognosis is likely to be.
Determining Liability for Your Diagnosis
There are many reasons why a product manufacturer or others in the supply chain could potentially be held liable for injuries to consumers from a defective product.
The tens of thousands of Roundup lawsuits that have been filed in recent years cite a variety of reasons manufacturers Monsanto and Bayer should be held liable for people developing cancer:
- Manufacturers misrepresented the safety of the product for the environment and consumers.
- The public was not warned that using Roundup may increase the risk of developing cancer.
- Manufacturers knew that the glyphosate, Roundup’s main ingredient, was a carcinogen.

Recent Verdicts from Roundup Lawsuits
Monsanto and Bayer have been sued tens of thousands of times over popular weed killer Roundup. To date, Monsanto has settled almost 100,000 Roundup lawsuits, paying out around $11 billion in compensation.
There are still around 54,000 lawsuits against Monsanto, according to the company. There are over 4,000 lawsuits in the multidistrict litigation, as of May 1, 2024.
The largest single verdict in a Roundup lawsuit as of February 2024 was $2.25 billion for a cable technician who was diagnosed with blood cancer. There were also jury awards of $1.56 billion and $332 million in late 2023.
There was also a $2 billion jury verdict in May 2019 for a married couple who were both diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma after they were exposed to Roundup over a period of more than 30 years.
The verdict included compensatory and punitive damages, as the jury found Monsanto’s actions displayed malice, oppression or fraud.
Just two months earlier, another jury in California awarded damages in a lawsuit against Monsanto over someone developing cancer. This time, the jury ordered the manufacturer to pay $80 million in damages to the victim.
The first Roundup lawsuit to go to trial resulted in a $289 million verdict for a former groundskeeper back in August 2018. According to the jury, being in regular contact with Roundup caused the groundskeeper to develop cancer. The jury also said Monsanto either knew or should have known Roundup was dangerous.

Research Linking Roundup to Cancer
There are multiple studies linking glyphosate, the chemical in Roundup used to kill and control weeds, to an increased risk of developing non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma and other forms of cancer.
This includes a study by the American Cancer Society from November of 2000, showing herbicides like glyphosate increased the risk of developing non-Hodgkins lymphoma. The International Journal of Cancer published another study in 2008 finding that glyphosate significantly increases the risk of non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.
Another study from 2014 revealed B cell lymphoma had a positive association with the herbicide glyphosate. The study also found pesticide exposure has a strong connection to non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma for people who work in agricultural settings. Researchers studied 25 years of literature to help them reach this conclusion. The study was published in the International Journal of Environmental Research and Public Health.
In 2015, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) brought in a group of 17 experts from around the world to review scientific evidence surrounding several herbicides, including glyphosate. Despite the IARC’s findings that glyphosate was likely putting consumers at a higher risk for developing several medical conditions and diseases, including cancer, Monsanto continues to stand behind its product, stating that it is safe.
